Arkilla residents in Wammakko Local Government of Sokoto have protested the increase of electricity tariff by the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company describing the decision as unacceptable.
The protesters who converged following a disconnection patrol by KAEDCO officers, marched to the KAEDCO Arkilla office register their anger with the DISCO.
Angered by the hike of the electricity price in their August bills, the protesters, blamed the DISCO and said they were at KAEDCO office to seek explanation on the hike.
According to the protesters, they did not did not fall in the categories of consumers affected by the recent increase by the Federal Government.
The protesters carried placards with inscriptions “we are pleading for justice to the people”, “Enough is Enough” among other slogans, noting that they would no longer keep quiet on the injustice they suffer from the DISCO.
One of the protesters who spoke to Caliphate Post said “we have suffered enough in the hands of KAEDCO and we cannot take it any longer.”
The protesters called on President Muhammad Buhari to ease their suffering by reducing the electricity tariff and other increment.
